Ah, Bowie. I was just reminiscing with an old friend last night about that brief glimpse of adolescence in which we have impossible - truly impossible - crushes. Both Sarah and I spent a fair amount of time wondering what life would be like when David Bowie finally got around to marrying us.
Music-wise, today and yesterday has been more or less dedicated to . I love them. Anyone else?

I've been listening to a local artist, Sarah Jaffe (not the ex erase errata guitarist). I saw her in concert in May. One of my friend's friends from high school plays cello for her. She's playing a few shows around Texas in the next few months.
I've also been listening to a lot of Bon Iver (esp. Re:Stacks and For Emma), Joni Mitchell (esp. This Flight Tonight), Hem (Carry Me Home), and Bodies of Water (I Guess We'll Forget the Sound, I Guess, I Guess).
P.S. Has anyone checked out the new OR album?

I've been listening to SixToes - Trick Of The Night. I found these guys in a rather unlikely way: they have made an absolutely superb remix of a Depeche Mode song from the latest album. It's not unlikely that I should listen to Depeche Mode, I'm a huuuuge Martin Gore fan (although the latest DM album is not really interesting, unfortunately) but a very unlikely remixer. Depeche Mode goes... uh... folk? Anyway, check it out: http://www.myspace.com/sixtoes1

Been on a old-fashioned emo kick lately, so that means Braid and Algernon Cadwallader and the like are getting rotation. Also, apparently a lot of Cloud Cult and John Vanderslice, according to my last.fm.

It's probably because of me.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw that Jason Vieaux was on NPR's Tiny Desk concert today: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... =105215426He is a wonderful classical guitarist - I saw him last year at UGA. His performance at least equalled that of Christopher Parkening, who performed a few months later.

Nickel Creek "Out Of The Woods"
Since cruzichick got me to check them out due to their Britney Spears "Toxic" cover in the sadly neglected "cover me" thread I'm totally stuck on the song!
