I believe that is called farce. Unless it's unintentional, in which case in can go under...I actually don't know. That's one terrible simile.

And the term you're looking for, I believe, is catechresis (not to be confused with Catechesis...unless of course we're talking the Gospel of Grammar! )

Although, that metaphor technically isn't catechresis. It's not Homeric either, it's just epic in its anachronism.
