Turns out that Jonathan isn't the only rock star who has a fascination with birds. This piece in The Guardian (link below) talks about famous musician birdwatchers, including Guy Garvey of Elbow and Jimi Goodwin of Doves. (Incidentally, any Shearwater fan should immediately check out the back catalogs of both Elbow and Doves -- like Shearwater, both of these British bands count Talk Talk among their primary influences.)

Also Neil Peart, the great drummer for Rush and author of several nonfiction books, is an avid birdwatcher. In the book reviews section of his website -- http://neilpeart.net/book_club/index.html -- the June roundup of books includes Peart's review of "Birdwatcher: The Life of Roger Tory Peterson" by Elizabeth J. Rosenthal. Peart discusses birdlife in the review and there's a lengthy discussion of his latest birdwatching observations in his latest nature essay, "Tales from the Trails," on the site (http://neilpeart.net/news/index.html). Peart can write as well as he can drum!

cheers,
Stephen
