Post subject:  British Sea Power

I continue to believe British Sea Power and Shearwater should tour together, not least because I think the guys would really enjoy each others' company.

From the recent BSP newsletter:
Hello and best wishes in the first BSP Newsboost of 2009 - Chinese year of the ox and the 75th anniversary of the first installation of cat’s-eye reflective road-studs. As sap gathers in the stems and the blackbird begins to sing loud and long, a fecund pulsing in detectable even in the dormant frames of the BSP boys. First and foremost, BSP are getting into new-media cahoots with the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.

Heralding the Big Garden Birdwatch weekend, BBC Radio 5 Live are set to call Noble at 8.30pm on Saturday, ready to ask what he can see from his window. Then, on Sunday, Yan and Noble are set to take part in The Guardian’s Big Garden Birdwatch live web-log. This live blog will run from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday 25 Jan and can be found via the following address:

Yan and Noble’s fellow birdwatching bloggers will include the actor Sean Wilson, better known as Martin Platt in Coronation Street, plus a wide variety of bird experts from the RSPB, the BBC and Birders UK. Of course, everyone is invited to contribute to this Guardian blog. More information on the Big Garden Birdwatch at:

BSP have now finished recording their soundtrack for the remarkable 1934 pseudo-documentary Man Of Aran. The film is set for DVD re-release this year, with the all-new BSP soundtrack. There will also be a live performance, with BSP playing their soundtrack to the film at the BFI in London in late April - date and ticket details to follow soon. The BSP soundtrack features mostly new material, plus instrumental variations on the BSP tracks True Adventures, The Great Skua and North Hanging Rock. The soundtrack also includes a version of the Jeff Alexander song Come Wander With Me, as sung by the actress Bonnie Beecher in a 1964 episode of The Twilight Zone.
