Happy Solstice! Before I begin celebrating in earnest, I thought I'd share:

It's been a wonderful, warm (though, not necessarily sunny) start to summer today. And to top it off, on my way home I caught a whiff of that sweetest summer scent--which is amazing considering my allergies--and followed my nose down the street to a flatbed full of organic, pesticide-free STRAWBERRIES!

As I sit savoring the taste of early summer, watching the naughty blue jay across the way taunt the crows to within an inch of his life and contemplating whether or not I will devour the entire pint in lieu of dinner, it comes to my attention that some of these strawberries are two fruits splitting the same stem. Beautiful!

I'm choosing to believe this is a fortunate cosmic sign (rather than suspecting that the pesticide-free promise was a ruse...), because they look so special and perfectly paired. Like love birds.

Love Berries.

I love summer!

And Happy Winter Solstice from me.

In classic Melbourne fashion today is appropriately cold, wet, grey and gloomy.

Bring back the berries!
