While we absorb the incredible Jetplane and Oxbow let's think back,
What are your favourite considerably underrated Shearwater songs of 'old' (DissRoom, EMM, WinLife) and 'New' Shearwater (Palo Santo onward)

Ill pick 10

I just took a breather from JPOB to listen back to Animal Joy
The middle tracks of Animal Joy are just so great!
-Immaculate
-Open Your Houses
-Run The Banner Down

-Failed Queen
-Runners of the Sun (My favourite from that record)
-Soon
-12:09
-All The Black Days
-The World in 1984
-If You Stay Sober

To my tastes, everything is terribly underrated. But then they're still my favorite active band.

"I'm So Glad" was too good a song and a recording to bury as an iTunes bonus track, though.

Totally agree.

Out of interest, who are some of your favourite groups or artists?
I've been into Xiu Xiu and Shearwater both since about 2003 can you imagine my absolute joy when JM and JS collaborated for Blue Water White Death?!
I have one of the hand numbered copies of that vinyl :)
I treasure it.

Haha, this probably belongs in the off-topic forum, but since it's literally just us...

This is a pretty good overview, though kind of dusty: http://www.last.fm/user/jkade/library/a ... preset=ALL
The last year isn't super representative (it's only my home listening, often while working on *things*), but fair enough: http://www.last.fm/user/jkade/library/a ... T_365_DAYS

Underrepresented there is the Greater Shearwater Industrial Complex. Y'know, Bill Callahan, Dana Falconberry, Wye Oak, Sharon van Etten, Baptist Generals, Mountain Goats, and now the fabulous Cross Record. BWWD I really love. Xiu Xiu I'm mostly into a few selected tracks. It's a little too strong a taste even for me.

The parade of my favorite all-time artists and my age at the time:
Cyndi Lauper/Carole King (~5)
Gordon Lightfoot (~6)
Dire Straits (~7)
Simon and Garfunkel (16)
Pink Floyd / Radiohead (17)
R.E.M. (19)
The Who (20)
Talking Heads (21)
Neil Young (22)
Warren Zevon (23)
John Cale (24)
Low (25)
Elvis Costello/Leonard Cohen (27)
Tragically Hip (29)
Shearwater (30)
David Bowie (34)... maybe that's just current events talking.

Gosh I feel old...
