To keep with the island theme, I suggest Isle Royale next!

If you don't know of Isle Royale it is a National Park situated in Lake Superior of Michigan. It is very remote with no telephones, no electricity, and no plumbing (except for a very few places). I've been going there every summer for the past four years and every year it gets better. The remoteness coupled with North American wilderness and the cold waters of Superior make it a unique place to be. Its a very solemn and relaxing place to be. As summer draws closer I always get this itch to go to the island and I need to scratch it or I'll go crazy. Its getting to a point where I would love to go in the winter if it were not for the lack of transportation and provisions. If I were musically talented I would definitely write stuff about it.

What kismet! I just applied to the Artist Residency program at Isle Royale and am sitting with my fingers crossed until I get the reply. It's so fascinating that in the industrial U.S., there's still a place so removed and untouched. That's something pretty important, rare.

Thanks for the posting the photos. I hope they convince everyone on the board to visit if I end up there.
