Interesting. I've never cared for Xiu Xiu, in spite of a few attempts, so hopefully this turns out well!

I've never even heard Xiu Xiu before today. Checked them out on MySpace, rather like what I hear so I will check them out further. Most probably some of my eMusic credits of this month will go towards that.

Um, that should be "Gall", I think.

Don't expect to hear any more about this from me for a while...Xiu Xiu and Shearwater both have records coming out on the 23rd and we're going to be devoted to those for now.

But this record - which we wrote, recorded, and mixed in a week - is very special. Doesn't really sound like XX or SW. I'll tell you more in due time...

Re Xiu Xiu albums - try "Fabulous Muscles" as a starter. They are amazing, but it can take a little while to adjust to their world.

Well, it's Pitchfork, what did you expect? It could be worse. They could've called it Quail...

(Oh, and Jonathan: Of course I knew the band, but I didn't know how the name is pronounced. I got when I tried googleing "Shoe Shoe")

This should be pretty cool. Graveface always puts out quality vinyl, too.

I'm always impressed with Graveface and their releases. Looking forward to this.

Coincidentally, Xiu Xiu are playing Lincoln Hall the night before Shearwater. Maybe they can give us a sneak preview.

Shearwater are kicking off a fantastic 3-night run at Lincoln Hall on 4/4, with Camera Obscura on 4/5 and The Low Anthem on 4/6.

Ohh that's a 4 night lineup to be jealous of! Is that a common occurrence for Lincoln Hall?

It's a relatively new venue, opened up by the Schubas (my fave Chicago venue) owners last October. They get a lot of great shows, but the last time it was this good was the first week it opened when, starting with their third show, I was there 6 out of 7 nights.

It's a great venue. I'm really excited to see Shearwater play there.

Wow, Chicago sounds like a fun place. I've heard a lot a about Schubas too. And I'm an architecture student; I've heard the city is great as far as that goes too.

It does have fantastic architecture. If you ever come, be sure to look to this organization: http://www.architecture.org. They have a whole lot of different tours, exhibits, and a very cool store.

One of my big travel disappointments was to be in Manchester with a lot of cool architecture and they didn't have any tours to talk about it.

Wow, great website. Thanks Hopefully I'll make it over there someday soon. I haven't had a chance to tour any cities for just architectural purposes except San Fransisco. I have driven through Spokane WA and seen some beautiful architecture though.

I was in Chicago for a very short time, and, seeing as how I'm from the east coast, I probably won't be making it back any time soon. That said, I'd love to be back there sooner or later, as it was a very cool city.

I loved Chicago - the architectural river cruise was one of the highlights of my visit. (I also got to see Okkervil River at Schubas.)
